Donna M. Compton graduated from East Central University in 1995 with an Elementary Education degree. After college, Donna helped run her family's accounting firm and worked at the University of Oklahoma, Health Sciences Center. She attended law school at Oklahoma City University School of Law where she graduated with honors and received awards in Estate and Gift Tax, Income Tax, and American Indian Wills Clinic. She was also recognized by the Oklahoma Bar Association's Tax Section for outstanding achievement. Donna was admitted to the Western-District of Oklahoma and Oklahoma bar in 2012.

After law school, Donna worked at the Senior Law Resource Center, a non-profit organization specializing in Elder Law for low income families, while starting her own own law firm. Donna developed Burton Law Firm, PLLC, as a general practice firm; however, over the years her practice was focused primarily in the areas of family, juvenile, criminal, and elder law including small estate planning. Donna has extensive experience in elder law including adult guardianships, durable powers of attorney, wills and trusts, and probate litigation. In addition, she has experience with American Indian law including wills, probates, and property issues specific to the American Indian community. Donna has also represented clients in youthful offender, DUI, criminal, and family law cases including divorce, paternity, custody and visitation.

Donna is a board member and secretary of Somebody's Mama, a non-profit organization focusing on issues affecting women across the globe. She is also an executive board member and the treasurer for the Cleveland County Bar Association. She has three children and lives with her husband in Norman.
